The thirteenth quartet and this building subvert the expectation of what architecture and music can be. Shostakovich creates a charged abstract sound world that at times crackles with an electrical intensity. The music is echoed in the angular lines and jagged rusting profile of the sculptural substation. The music and context are scattered with strange shapes, objects and colours.
